Welcome! Welcome! On this wonderful Friday! So glad you could join me for this first Halloween post…..I LOVE Halloween and just couldn’t contain myself. When I launched this blog, it was in November of 2015. So, I passed the Halloween celebratory posting mark. I was sad, but confident that if I stuck with it, I would be posting a year later with Halloweeny stuff.
Almost a year later and I’m still with it! Wahooo! An exciting part of this past week is that I made my first video for Facebook and the blog, of course. I wanted to post about how to make this simple treat AND how to set them up on a party platter. Henceforth, a video was made!
It was tricky but fell together quite nicely…..over several days. Now I know how to make a video, so it will hopefully take less time when I have a go at it again. And now, here’s the post!!
These are eyeballs. They are made from marshmallows. There are some fantastic Halloween treats out there that have marshmallows as a base. For instance, these too cute Frankenstein Marshmallow Pops made by the ever popular food blog, Just A Taste. They are amazing. And so adorable. I found many more wonderful creations online as well.
I had an idea of just making some simple eyeballs, without the hassle. I had white chocolate morsels in the cupboard (if you haven’t followed me yet, you’ll soon learn I call it a cupboard and always have….no idea why). We had a bunch of good-sized marshmallows and red sprinkles that I keep for the kids. The one thing I didn’t have? Sticks. Nothing that I could use to make little cake pops with, or marshmallow pops.
I figured, why not just make eyeballs that you could pop in your mouth instead? No hassle, no fuss? The bloody eyeballs were then born. They are fun, really good, and so easy to make. Literally, the best treat for any Halloween party that you can whip up in minutes. You simply temper some white chocolate. Then you dip one end of a marshmallow into the white chocolate and turn it over to dry. That’s it!
Pop on some dark chocolate chips for eyes and some red sprinkles before hardening. You’ve got yourself some eyeballs. Rich, decadent Halloween eyeballs. In the video, I used a Pottery Barn Suppertime platter chip and dip set that was given to us when we were married. It is too awesome. They don’t make it any longer. However, something similar you can purchase through Amazon is this set. Any round platter can be surrounded with Halloween decor for a visual masterpiece. Try it for your party!
I hope you enjoy these Halloween Marshmallow Eyeballs. We certainly did. Have a fantastic weekend and come back next week for some more recipes and blog posts! Goodboooooooo!! (Get it? I just can’t help myself….I know not what I do.)
